WebThe epileptogenic lesion is the pathologic abnormality in the brain that incites focal epilepsy. It may contain epileptic neurons, for example, in the case of hippocampal sclerosis or cortical dysplasia, or it may not, such as with a cavernous angioma or an infectious cyst. WebFocal epilepsies include idiopathic location-related epilepsies (ILRE), frontal lobe epilepsy, temporal lobe epilepsy, parietal lobe epilepsy and occipital lobe epilepsy. Focal epilepsy may be treated with medication, and occasionally with diet, nerve stimulation or surgery, especially if the condition is due to a scar or other lesion in the brain.
